U.S. Business Mission - Nay Pyi Taw Trip

On May 17 to 18, thirty-six members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, under the leadership of the U.S. Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Scot Marciel, met several newly appointed government officials in Nay Pyi Taw from thirteen ministries: Planning and Finance; Electricity and Energy; Labor; Immigration and Population; Commerce; Industry; Transportation and Communications; Health; Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, as well as the Deputy Governor of the Myanmar Central Bank. Furthermore, the delegation paid a visit to the Commission for the Assessment of Legal Affairs and Special Issues and the Union Attorney General's office, and also met with representatives of the World Bank and IFC. In these meetings, the AMCHAM delegation stressed the support which their members give to the development of the country, and the employment of over 6,000 citizens. Moreover, the delegation stressed the CSR programs of each company, and those of AMCHAM, which in 2016 has awarded 35 scholarships to Myanmar university students, arranged for internships for several students with member companies, and offered multiple seminars to Myanmar businesses concerning skills improvement, legal and tax developments, human resources, etc.
