Myanmar Business Outlook Briefing

On January 23, AMCHAM Myanmar organized a briefing of the most recent Myanmar Business Survey conducted by European consulting firm, Roland Berger. Principal, Dieter Billen, presented key findings of the survey. While overall business confidence has dropped since 2016, half of those surveyed still believe that the Myanmar business landscape will improve. Lack of trained staff was named as the most critical challenge companies face in the Myanmar business environment, with no clear government economic policy coming in a close second. Overall, respondents indicated that their reasons for initially entering the market still exist today and 77% of companies plan to expand their operations in Myanmar over the next year.
