A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT | THE REBUILD, A NEW CALL FOR ACTION

Members, Colleagues, Friends,

Life has made us bleed again.

But now, we must do what we have always done: Survive.

This is what has always defined the people of this country.

Over seventy years of sacrifice runs through the veins of our people and every generation has known its own suffering.

But I believe—with all my heart—that this generation will be the one to finally find peace.

And that peace starts today, with the Rebuild.

Today, the American business community must once again mobilize.

In the past year, the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar built the internal infrastructure not only to support donations, but to screen, evaluate, and monitor credible development partners nationwide.

This was made possible through the creation of the AMCHAM Social Impact Donation (SID) Fund—a mechanism that is currently funding nine trusted NGOs, each actively delivering AMCHAM-supported social impact and development projects across Myanmar.

But those nine are just the beginning.

Last year, hundreds of NGOs applied for funding. That network still stands—eager, experienced, and prepared to respond—if resourced quickly.

And so, we now enter the next phase: the REBUILD FUND.

The Rebuild Fund will expand beyond our membership base.

We are now calling upon international donors, philanthropic institutions, and corporate partners who are ready to help.
This week, we begin:

  • Activating local NGO partners already present in earthquake-affected regions
  • Mapping critical needs in coordination with community leaders and stakeholders
  • Mobilizing donations from the private sector and global supporters
  • Utilizing AMCHAM’s proven grant governance system, originally designed with USAID and aligned with global best practices

This is not a new initiative.

It is a trusted, field-proven platform now adapted for rapid response.

There will be no red tape, no middlemen, and no bureaucracy to bury our partners.

Your support will go directly to organizations on the ground, ready to deliver.

The Rebuild Fund will focus on two essential areas of support as Myanmar’s Heartland begins to rebuild from the devastating earthquake:

  • Healthcare – Clinics and Patient Outreach
  • Water and Food Sanitation Infrastructure

If your organization wishes to be part of this mission, We invite you to stand with us.

On a final note, today I begin my journey to the United States - enroute to Washington, D.C.

A trip originally intended for AMCHAM Myanmar’s ongoing advocacy through the US-Burma Economic Forum.
But now, this mission has a new urgency.

Our agenda will be refocused on the Rebuild Fund, to seek partnerships with organizations that are ready to donate, ready to help, and ready to act.

And so, my community - I will see you again very soon.

I pray this journey brings our people and this country the help they finally deserve.

We were forgotten once. But this time,

I promise you—the world will know our pain.

The world will know our strength.

Unbreakable.

With urgency and solidarity,

Adam Castillo
President, Board of Governors
American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar
