DIGITAL ECONOMY FORUM IN PHNOM PENH

On March 29 and March 30, AMCHAM Myanmar representatives participated in the two-day Digital Economy Forum, organized jointly by USAID, DAI and MangoTango Asia, in Phnom Penh. The U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Patrick Murphy and the Secretary of State, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in Cambodia, H.E. Puthyvuth Sok honored the forum with opening remarks. The programme forms part of the umbrella USAID-funded project, called Digital Asia Accelerator (DAA), a private sector advocacy network connecting business chambers in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Thailand.

During the two-day forum, AMCHAM Myanmar representatives had an opportunity to learn about the digital economy policy landscape of the region and gain fresh insights into the challenges and opportunities around digital issues driving economic growth, including cybersecurity, data protection/privacy, cross-border transfer of information, open internet access and internet governance, electronic transactions and e-trade facilitation, and AI and new technologies all while engaging with policy actors, government officials, think tanks, private sector companies, civil society organizations and other like-minded professionals.
