ASEAN Business Outlook Survey 2018
September 18, 2017
Survey of business executives from U.S. companies across ASEAN on their perspectives on the business environment and opportunities in Southeast Asia by AmCham Singapore in collaboration with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other AmChams in the region.
Each year AmCham Singapore, in collaboration with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other AmChams in the region, surveys business executives from U.S. companies across ASEAN about their perspectives on the business environment and opportunities in Southeast Asia. The findings are presented in AmCham Singapores annual publication, the ASEAN Business Outlook Survey(ABOS).
Since the first ASEAN Business Outlook Survey in 2001, senior executives in U.S. companies throughout the region have highlighted the attractive business prospects of the ten countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). While the survey measures sentiment and expectations, outcomes prove that U.S. companies have taken advantage of the opportunities the region offers. U.S. trade and investment here has grown dramatically: two-way trade in goods and services has expanded from US$120 billion in 2001 to US$230 billion in 2016. U.S. foreign direct investment in the region has increased sixfold from under US$50 billion in 2001 to over US$306 billion in 2016.
