Launch of Myanmar Translation of “Dreams from My Father” Strengthens Cultural and Educational Bridges

Yesterday marked a memorable and meaningful occasion for Myanmar’s literary and academic community. The official launch of the Myanmar translation of “Dreams from My Father”, the celebrated memoir of President Barack Obama, was successfully held at Central Hotel Yangon in the presence of distinguished diplomats, respected scholars, writers and friends from the business community. 

The translated edition, prepared by Mr. Ko Ko Latt (Shwe O Latt), reflects a strong commitment to cultural understanding, education, and the sharing of knowledge between Myanmar and the United States. The book offers valuable lessons on identity, leadership, resilience, and hope — themes that resonate deeply with the experiences and aspirations of the people of Myanmar.  

During the ceremony, Mr. Ko Ko Latt highlighted his personal connection to the work, which he first read in Washington, D.C. many years ago. Inspired by its message, he undertook the translation so that Myanmar students, young people, and future leaders may have access to this important story in their own language. 

A highlight of the event was the official donation of 150 copies to the Myanmar Library Association. The gesture was warmly received and aims to encourage reading culture and educational development throughout the country. 

Members of the diplomatic community offered remarks and commended the initiative as a positive step in strengthening people-to-people ties between Myanmar and the United States. They praised the spirit of collaboration, learning, and friendship demonstrated during the launch. 

The publication stands as a meaningful symbol of cultural exchange and shared values. It is hoped that the book will inspire many readers and contribute to greater understanding between our two countries.
