Job Description
Role Purpose: The primary purpose of this role is to drive the sales of the company’s products in the Myanmar market, with a focus on Myanmar and other targeted countries as identified.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead business development initiatives in Myanmar and other identified countries.
- Promote and initiate B2B sales in the local market by actively engaging with potential customers within the B2B network.
- Negotiate and draft non-disclosure agreements and sales contracts with customers, covering private label, contract manufacturing, contract testing services, or other relevant areas.
- Spearhead new product development projects and business development initiatives to drive PMI growth.
- Select and appoint distributors in Myanmar and other targeted international markets, aiming to establish a full agency model in the foreseeable future. Ensure distributors are equipped to manage importation, sales, marketing, and distribution of PMI products.
- Oversee market surveys, business analytics, and product portfolio planning for commercialization in selected countries.
- Evaluate and determine the best products for export, developing well-defined business strategies to capitalize on new opportunities.
- Negotiate commercial terms such as contract terms, payment terms, shipping, logistics, and other relevant trading provisions.
- Understand and comply with drug, health, and trade regulatory requirements in Myanmar and identified overseas markets.
- Manage customer relationships by addressing complaints and resolving any issues promptly.
- Set targets for distributors and apply necessary business tools to ensure optimal sales, marketing, and coverage activities, driving PMI product sales.
- Manage the exchange of information between parties involved in business development.
- Drive profitable growth year over year.
- Apply expertise in international trade and distributor management.
- Prepare budgets, sales projections, financial analyses, and return on investment (ROI) assessments for business development initiatives.
- Develop project plans, strategies, and timelines for product launches as required.
- Coordinate product delivery through the PMI factory and supply chain, maintaining active communication with customers.
- Draft partnership and commercial agreements with business partners and distributors in Myanmar and other targeted countries.
- Work closely with regulatory affairs to manage product dossiers, label and packaging design, and ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate supply chain activities, including organizing freight forwarders, clearance agents, and insurance providers for product shipments.
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities, including new product development, exploration of new therapeutic areas, and potential business extensions.
- Provide timely reports and accurately identify trends or issues that require a change in course. Respond with speed and flexibility, securing management buy-in and capitalizing on opportunities aligned with corporate objectives.
- Lead short- and long-term planning for business development in defined markets within each country.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, corporate SOPs, and local regulations in each market.
- Ensure that alliances and partnerships align with corporate objectives.
- Report weekly and monthly on sales performance, pending issues, and key performance indicators (KPIs) as defined by management.
- Lead and support promotional activities, including overseas exhibitions, marketing events, and other promotional activities related to PMI or group initiatives.
- Undertake other relevant business development projects as approved by management.
Job Requirements
- Strong B2B selling skills and general salesmanship
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to negotiate favorable terms with customers
- Proficient in drafting quotations, including terms and conditions
- Familiarity with NDA agreements and requirements
- Knowledge of Myanmar FDA approval submissions and processes, along with regulatory affairs such as DRC, IR, DIAC, and wholesale/retail licenses
- Working knowledge of the Myanmar FDA, including compliance and regulatory processes, pharmaceutical standards, and pharmacopeia
- Basic understanding of the terms and conditions involved in private label or contract manufacturing agreements
- Basic knowledge of purchase order processes and pharmaceutical production
- Familiarity with import license applications, procedures, and processes
- Understanding of local and international payment terms and Incoterms
- Ability to develop operations plans for business development initiatives, considering cost, quality, and timeliness criteria
- Skilled in developing market-specific business plans based on key products, market environments, and competitive landscapes, including new product/market initiatives
- Ability to optimize financial investments based on ROI metrics and performance dashboards
- Ability to persuasively gain buy-in from internal and external stakeholders
- Capability to establish operating mechanisms and integrate functions across geographies
- Fast learner, adaptable to changes and ambiguity, particularly in the context of fast-growing business development initiatives at PMI
- Ability to inspire diverse teams across different markets and channel their collective energy toward achieving organizational goals
- Strong communication skills to effectively present business development plans to internal stakeholders and secure buy-in
- Ability to drive the development, training, and mentoring of team members to meet business objectives
- Expertise in establishing new alliances and partnerships, and identifying potential business targets to ensure a comprehensive portfolio of products
- Demonstrates the stature and judgment required to represent the company effectively in dealings with alliance partners and at government platforms in different countries
- In-depth knowledge of import/export processes, trade terms, supply chain logistics, and regulatory affairs in pharmaceuticals and healthcare
- Excellent distributor management skills and extensive experience as a key representative at international medical trade conferences and exhibitions
- Relevant degree in a scientific field or business
- At least 10 years of management experience, preferably in a country manager or business development role
- Proven experience in new product development and business development in Myanmar; exposure to ASEAN countries is an added advantage
- Proven track record of improving sales and driving growth
