New Tax Administration Law

-
On 7 June 2019, the Union Parliament enacted Law No. 20/2019 otherwise known as the Tax Administration Law (“TAL”). The TAL is one of the most significant pieces of tax legislation being introduced in Myanmar as part of the Internal Revenue Department’s tax reform program. In this presentation, we will discuss the key features of the new TAL, which include changes to tax filing and payment procedures, the new retention period of maintaining documents, changes to re-assessment of tax returns and the appeal process, and penalties applicable to instances of non-compliance, among others. The presentation will also highlight the major considerations that all businesses must be aware of before this new Law enters into effect on 1 October 2019 or the start of the new financial year.Date and Time: July 11, 9:30 am to 11 am Venue: AMCHAM Office, #19-09 Sule Square, 221 Sule Pagoda Road, Kyauktada Township, Yangon  Cost: 10,000 kyats per member; 15,000 kyats per non-memberAbout the Speaker Diberjohn Balinas, Senior Tax Manager, DFDL Myanmar Diber is a Senior Tax Manager based in DFDL’s Yangon office.
