An American Update.This seminar will provide an update to the remaining U.S. sanctions program against Myanmar. It will also provide a broad overview of the U.S. GSP program, which is available at present to eligible Myanmar companies.Venue:Bago Room (lobby floor), Sule Shangri-La Hotel Yangon On October 7, the U.S. government has continued the easing of sanctions against Myanmar by ending the U.S. Burma Sanctions program, as well as allowing the importation of jade and rubies into the U.S. Furthermore, on November 13, the U.S. reinstated Myanmar's eligibility for benefits under the U.S. Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), which had been suspended in 1989. Yet, the U.S. continues unabated the remaining U.S. Treasury Department's financial sanctions against Myanmar, as well as sanctions, under other programs, against selected Myanmar individuals and businesses.
