Our panelists will discuss the economic impacts of COVID-19 on the oil, gas, mining, and energy sectors. Panelists will also discuss the need for responsible investments in these sectors. Booking deadline: Jun 9, 4 pm About the speakers and moderator Richard Taylor (speaker) Richard Taylor co-founded mining-technology firm SensOre in 2019 and joined as inaugural CEO. SensOre is disrupting mineral exploration through machine learning software applications to massive geoscience datasets. Prior to this role he ran ASX-listed junior mining companies with assets in Africa, Asia & Australia. Richard held senior roles with Mineral Deposits Ltd, during the Eramet takeover, and PanAust Ltd, as Managing Director for Phu Bia Mining Ltd in Laos from 2014-2018. Specialising in business development, strategy and governance, Richard oversaw Oxiana’s entry into South East Asian markets, which developed into a number of operating mines, and PanAust’s market entry into Myanmar and the acquisition of a portfolio of projects. Richard has held senior executive roles in the resource sector for more than 15 years. He chaired the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) Resource Endowment initiative until July 2011. A qualified lawyer, he holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge and a Master degree in Law from ANU.   Jonathan Perry (speaker) Jonathan Perry, Myanmar Country Manager for Chevron from 1 January 2019. Jonathan joined Chevron as a Drill Site Manager in 2007 after receiving a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University. He has since held numerous technical and operational positions of increasing responsibility across drilling and completions, exploration, base business, and planning in Midland, Houston, Aberdeen, San Ramon, and Angola. Most recently, Jonathan led the transition of the Mafumeira Sul major capital project into base operations. He is accompanied by his wife Laine, son Forest and daughter Juliet. Lin Tun (speaker) Mr. Tun has over 25 years of experience in all segments of US power business (Transmission, Interconnection, Operation, Development, Trading and Marketing).  He has led over 10,000MW of business development and merchant PPA transactions, including development of over 2,000MW of solar and wind facilities in USA. His previous experience includes working for large multinational energy and power utility companies including - NextEra Energy, GDF Suez (Tractebel), BG Group (British Gas), Duke Energy (Cinergy), Navigant Consulting, and New York Power Authority. Mr. Tun earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and MBA in Finance from New York University Stern School of Management.  Mr. Tun was born and raised in Yangon and has extensive family and business connections throughout Myanmar. Amb. Ian Kemish (speaker) Ian joins BGA as senior advisor for Australia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste and Fiji. Previously he served as chief people and sustainability officer for Newcrest Mining. In addition to his regional expertise, he is available to support teams working on energy, mining and other natural resource questions. Ian is a former senior Australian diplomat, whose 25-year career with the Australian government included service as international policy advisor to the prime minister, as ambassador to Germany and as high commissioner to Papua New Guinea. Ian is one of the world’s top experts on Papua New Guinea, having grown up there, speaking the local languages and serving several times for the Australian government in Port Moresby. Also an Indonesia hand, Ian was awarded membership of the Order of Australia (A.M.) for his leadership of Australia’s response to its worst offshore consular disaster: the 2002 Bali bombings. His career with the Australian Foreign Ministry had a strong overall focus on the Asia-Pacific region. He is currently based in Brisbane, Australia. Jay Martin (moderator) Jay Martin is External Affairs Manager for PanAust Asia Pte. Ltd., and Director of both PanAust Servcies (Myanmar) Co. Ltd and Wuntho Resources Company Limited, based in Yangon. He is responsible for all non-technical aspects of PanAust’s copper and gold exploration program in Myanmar, including Permitting, Government Relations, Community Engagement, Environmental Management, Site Support and Business Development. Prior to joining PanAust, Mr. Martin was Director at John Hancock Associates in Yangon, a consulting firm which handled all aspects of Myanmar market entry, with a specific emphasis on political risk assessment. In addition to serving on the AmCham Board of Governors, Mr. Martin also serves as Chairman of the International Investors for Minerals Development Association. Mr. Martin holds a B.S. in Geography from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and an M.A. in Philosophy (Mathematical Logic) from University of Colorado Boulder. He also served as a pilot in Alaska, having logged over 7,000 hours of commercial flight experience, mostly in single-engine aircraft on floats, wheels and skis.
