U PhyoMin Thein, has agreed to a dinner with AMCHAM members on Sunday, September 18. Details are below. UPhyo Min Thein (born 13 April 1969) is a Burmese politician and an ex-political prisoner, currently serving as Chief Minister of Yangon Region and Yangon Region Hluttaw MP for Hlegu Township Constituency No. 2. He was a former chairman of Union Democratic Party and also a founder of People Democracy Party which was later merged with Union Democratic Party. He completed just two years of a physics degree when his studies were interrupted by the 1988 student protests. He was arrested in 1991, and sentenced to seven years in prison, but was not released until 2005.He served as a Pyithu Hluttaw MP after the 2012 by-election and was on the parliaments Banks and Monetary Affairs Development Committee.Note that bookings confirmed as of 12 noon Friday, September 16 will be binding.
