Briefing with U.S. Ex-Im Bank Chairman

-
AMCHAM Myanmar along with it sponsor partners, DFDL and Myan Shwe Pyi Tractors will host Mr. Fred Hochberg, Chairman and President of the Export-Import Bank of the U.S. (EXIM Bank) as the first EXIM Chairman to visit Myanmar.  Since President Obama reopened economic relations with Myanmar, EXIM has authorized more than $10 million in support of U.S. exports to the country.  That number is expected to increase as Myanmar's economy grows.  There is an opportunity and demand in Myanmar to do business with American exporters and EXIM Bank wants to be a part of facilitating that business.  Mr. Hochberg will provide an overview of EXIM Banks programs and discuss how both Myanmar and U.S. companies can avail of EXIM financing for financing of U.S. goods and services. We invite AMCHAM Members to meet Mr. Hochberg and hear how EXIM bank may be able to help their businesses.  We also have extended an invitation for UMFCCI members to join. Cost: no cost to attend for members.  Non-members may attend by invitation.  Non-members should email Clara@amchammyanmar.com for an invitation. About The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) is the official export credit agency of the United States. EXIM is an independent, self-sustaining Executive Branch agency. When private sector lenders are unable or unwilling to provide financing, EXIM fills in the gap for American businesses by equipping them with the financing tools necessary to compete for global sales. In doing so, the Bank levels the playing field for U.S. goods and services going up against foreign competition in overseas markets.    Because it is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States, EXIM assumes credit and country risks that the private sector is unable or unwilling to accept. The Bank’s charter requires that all transactions it authorizes demonstrate a reasonable assurance of repayment; the Bank consistently maintains a low default rate, and closely monitors credit and other risks in its portfolio. About the U.S. Ex-Im Bank Chair and President During Mr. Hochberg's seven years of leadership, EXIM Bank has supported more than 1.4 million American jobs and financed exports with a value exceeding $235 billion, while generating more than $2 billion in surplus revenue for U.S. taxpayers and reducing internal costs by nearly 30 percent. During Hochberg’s tenure, the Bank has increased its focus on customers, particularly America’s small business exporters, and in each of the last several years, nearly 90 percent of EXIM Bank authorizations have directly supported small businesses.
