He wrote for the Far Eastern Economic Review out of Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Washington. He is also the author of a forthcoming book Under Beijing’s Shadow: Southeast Asia’s China Challenge (June 2020). Hiebert is also a senior associate of the Southeast Asia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. James CarousoBGA Singapore managing director James Carouso has been at the forefront of economic diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific for much of his career. Prior to joining BGA, Jim was the senior foreign policy advisor to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in Hawaii. Earlier, Jim served as deputy chief of mission and chargé d’ affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra, Australia. He also worked as the chargé d’affaires at the U.S. Mission to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, Indonesia, in mid-2019. Zaw NaingBGA Myanmar Senior Advisor Zaw Naing is a prominent figure in the Myanmar business community. He is vice chair of the infrastructure working group in the Myanmar Business Forum, established between the government of Myanmar and the UMFCCI with the support from the International Finance Corporation. He is an active member of the Myanmar Engineering Society, the Myanmar Oil and Gas Services Society, the Myanmar Computer Professionals Association and the Myanmar Business Executives Association, of which he is a founding member. Zaw Naing has served in consultancy roles with the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program, the International Trade Center and numerous bilateral and multilateral government projects in the areas of ICT, water resource management, innovation and entrepreneurship, export strategy, land use planning, urban planning and development.
