2015BOOK HERE: About the AMCHAM Myanmar Scholarship FundRecognizing the importance of
education in improving the future prospects of young people in Myanmar, the
American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Myanmar Chapter initiated the AMCHAM
Myanmar Chapter Scholarship Program. This program provides undergraduate
students with financial support for their academic endeavors. Through this
program, AMCHAM aims to help create a more capable workforce, which will in
turn benefit Myanmar's society as a whole.
In 2014, AMCHAM Myanmar Chapter
raised more than US $15,000 towards their scholarship fund. Scholarship will be
awarded to 30 deserving University of Yangon students at a ceremony to be held
at the American Embassy in Yangon on 3 March 2015 (details to be provided in a
separate release). Each scholarship will
be eligible for annual renewal until the recipient graduates, so long as they
meet AMCHAM Myanmar's renewal criteria. Thirty additional scholarships will be
awarded in late 2015. The AMCHAM Myanmar scholarship
program is modeled on the AMCHAM Thailand scholarship program which has
supported more than 1,700 students since its inception in 1976.
