Job Purpose

Deputy function head data analytics role is to support and co-lead data analytics strategy across the whole bank. This role holder is also of a co-owner and enabler for the bank’s data-first strategy. The role holder is also responsible for developing and consolidating the talent pool spread across the various functions and value centres, in addition to scouting for the relevant talent externally. The role holder works closely with principal data scientist and head of software and data analytics to drive the data analytics agenda, capability development and mentoring business teams in data driven strategy execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the full lifecycle of an analytics project: from gathering and understanding the requirements to creating the functional design, architecting the solution, supervising the detailed technical design and implementation, to preparing and executing the functional tests.
• Hire, train and deploy high potential local talent in the scope of analytics including data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, machine learning and visualization.
• Architect the business solution pertaining to the use of data in form of insights, visualization, dashboards, forecasting, predictive modelling and segmentation.
• Contribute subject matter expertise in the projects pertaining to the strategic use of data, insights and analytics.
• Will co-own and drive the data and analytics department vision, strategy, and execution along with principal data scientist and head of software and data analytics.
• Will inspire the bank to think “data” as an important strategic asset and help in its growth story.
• Will influence and navigate the key stakeholders, constructively challenge the current ways of doing business, and successfully forge the new path forward for the bank.
• Will help conduct business user mentoring in the self-help data analytics tools.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor in Computer Engineering / Master’s in Computer Science, quantitative science discipline such as physics, mathematics. Should be hands on and have expert level competency in data manipulation, data management, data modelling, data visualization and data analytics and / or machine learning. (Mandatory)

Experience:

• At least 10 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence or data sciences both in the capacity of individual contributor as well as leader.
• Mandatory to demonstrate the ‘built from scratch’ competency in data analytics including team build, tool selection, business use case development in business intelligence, data analytics, machine learning, visualization and data insights.
• Must have worked in high volume, high velocity and complex data systems including unstructured sources.
• Exposure to fintech, banking, ecommerce, digital business
